The Principal Accountant General is assisted by two Group Officers from the Indian Audit and Accounts Service of the level of Senior Time Scale/Junior Administrative grade. The (A&E) office has got four distinct functional groups, viz. Administration, Accounts, Provident Fund, and Pension.

Two or three wings are headed by the Group Officers, viz. Deputy Accountant General/ Senior Deputy Accountant General. The Principal Accountant General directly supervises the Complaint Cell and the Internal Test Audit Wing. A Visitors Facilitation Cell has been established in the office to guide any person visiting the office in relation with grievance, complaint, seeking to information etc.
